  • I have a lot of data points that include hours, mininutes and seconds. There are formatting as  hh:mm:ss in Excel. I'd like to calculate the total duration. I did some research in the forum, but I still don't know how to get the sum.

  • Issue#573271: Sum of duration of task with Days, Hours, Minutes

Hello, While taking the first baby steps into Power BI, I was trying to get grips with how to sum time spent on a particular project and got stuck. Say that I have a table where each row represents different time entries, each being assigned to different projects, as below.Creating a measure to sum the duration would be expected to return a sum of 36h, which is not. It is showing 12h instead. I understand that it may be deducting the first 24h from the lot. Is there a way that I can format the SumOfDuration column to keep adding up the hours and report values such as [Days][Hours][Minutes]? Thank you for your help.

  • Issue#676287: Converting milliseconds to days:hours:minutes:seconds?

Hi, I have a sql field that returns an elapsed time value in milliseconds (i.e. days, hours, minutes, seconds) Is there a simple way to convert that into something meaningful? I've managed to convert it to a datetime at source by doing this which I think worked: dateadd(millisecond, myfield %1000, dateadd(second, myfield / 1000, '19700101')) Example: 30871000 milliseconds gives me 01/01/1970 08:34:31Manual calculation of that is:30871000 / 1000 = 30,871 seconds / 60 = 514 minutes / 60 = 8.57527777 hours, so about eight and a half hours. The problem with that though is that this is then an elapsed time since 1 Jan 1970.  Simply doing a SUM on these won't give me a total elapsed time that I can tell? Any thoughts on how best to tackle this greatly appreciated. Many thanks,D.

  • Issue#20: Tableau - Aggregation issue

Hello all, I just want to begin by saying how much this forum has saved my job! Thanks everyone! I am having an issue getting my values to aggregate properly. I have attached two pictures below to help explain:BEFOREAFTERThe problem is that when I remove a dimension, the values are not aggregating properly. Each Facility and Cost Center should have 1 App attached to it and taking away Summary Pay type should not aggregate those Apps. Once I take away Cost Center, then they should begin to aggregate. I can use MAX() but then it keeps the same value when I get rid of cost center and I would want that to be Summed. The end goal of this is to track Dollars/App By facility and able to drilldown to cost center, then summary pay type and another layer of fidelity that I may add in. Thanks!

  • Issue#5812: Tableau - Combining Weekday/Weekend with Business Hours

I have two calculated fields which work great alone or together.  What I'd like to do, due to screen real estate being low, is to combine them into one filter.  I've tried stacked If Else statements but, as I expected, it doesn't calculate properly due to the statement.  I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this and came up with a good solution. Weekday/WeekendIF (DATEPART('weekday', [Resolve Time] )= 1 or datepart('weekday', [Resolve Time])=7) then 'Weekend' else 'Weekday' end Before or After Business Hoursif(DATEPART('hour', [Resolve Time] ) >= 7 AND datepart('hour', [Resolve Time])<= 18) then 'Business Hours' else 'After Hours' end

  • Issue#70674: Tableau - Change map view based on hours of the day: slider?

I'd like to allow a user to use a slider to move through the hours of a day, and have the corresponding view update accordingly. My data is SQL transactional data with timestamps down to the second, and I'm restricting this to a 24-hour 'day-to-date' view, aggregating at the level of the hour. I've created a parameter which can take integer values from 0-23, but don't know how to take that next step of linking it to my data and making it act of the view. Any help would be appreciated! Note in the view below that the slider has no effect. The data in the view is for the whole day.

Hi All, I have Tableau Server version 9.2. Data sources are extracts and MySql data connection. I have 3 backgrounders. The system is of very high configuration (64bit, 32 Gb RAM, 7.5 TB memory). MySql Db is on different server than Tableau (which is also with good config) Sometimes there seems error as Lost Connection-com.tableausoftware.nativeapi.dll.TableauException: [MySQL][ODBC 5.3(w) Driver][mysqld-5.5.39]Lost connection to MySQL server during queryin background status of extracts although the refresh extract query is not heavy and executes in seconds. When I look at show processlist there was no memory issue/lock or anything during the execution. Also the system memory on both the servers seem fine too during the error time. I have seen in some threads where it is mentioned that the backgrounder restart itself in some interval. Is that true?  I am getting this issue in this version only. Din't get in previous version. Also, not every time same extract gets fai

  • Issue#85301: Tableau - Sum between two dates that are different for each row

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to calculate a sum for each row between a start date and yesterday that have different start dates or reset dates.   Each row represents a store. I want to say sum the # of hours open between yesterday and each store's reset date.  I've calculated the reset date (which is equal to the later of the opening date and last time it was refreshed) but I can't figure out how to get it to sum the hours for only that window per store.   I've attached a really simplified version of what the data looks like (post the simple calculations). Many thanks, sam

  • Issue#98344: Tableau - Trying to Dynamically Sum Top Ten Clients for Percentage of Total Revenue Chart

I'm working on an item to show what percentage of the total revenue earned in a period could be attributed to the top ten clients.  I want to be able to show the top ten clients in a variety of different cuts and they should hopefully update dynamically.  For example I'd like to be able to show the top ten revenue as a percentage of total revenue for a given month, a given geographic area, a given region and account manager. Is there a way to sum up the top ten so that I can divide it by a TOTAL(Sum(Revenue)) table calculation?  I've attached a sample workbook along with the ranking formula I've been using up until this point.  I'll be happy to try to explain further. Thanks,Brian

  • Issue#109784: Tableau - Sum Top 5

Hi, Thought this would be easy, so I'm hoping I just can't find the solution.  All I'm trying to do is get the top 5 that are showing in my window pane versus the total of the whole dimension.  Basically the total for Tier 1 shouldn't be $48,757,893.  It should be $92,051.  How do I achieve that?  Thanks

  • Issue#131748: Tableau - Aggregation Issue (Part II)

Hello all, Some time ago I was having an issue with my data due to the level of fidelity it was being joined on. I've since gotten a solution for it which can be seen in my attached work book's calculated field. I have an incremental ask to this issue now. Now, I am able to aggregate properly by pay period but When I try to sum up the year, it is aggregating only the values that are there instead of by the cost center. Example attached. When you remove the Pay Period pill, each value on the stage should be the same as long as it's in the same cost center, regardless of the pay type or job class. QA: The sum of A Cost Center 6000 should be the ball park of 8563. Thank you!

  • Issue#140138: Tableau - Dynamic cummulative sum like excel

Hi. I have been trying to generate a formula that accumulate values in a dynamic way like excel do.For example: I have a data source (first 2 colums), with a date field and values for each day. I would like to generate, in another table, an output (like 3rd and 4th colums) that accumulate, for the next 10 days, and put result the within the day where the sum begin.I dont know if there is any expression that can do this job or if I need to create filter or parameter.
