  • Issue#42243: Tableau - SQL server authentication error on tableau server

Hi folks, I need a small help regarding tableau server connection to a SQL Server database. In short, I've developed a tableau workbook with live connection to a SQL database and published to our tableau server. But when I login to tableau server and try to browse the report, I get the below error. It doesn't let me in even when I enter the login credentials. FYI...I'm using windows authentication for connecting to SQL Server authentication and the user id through which I've logged into tableau server has access to the database. I've also configured my tableau server to use Active directory, however I've not created a service account yet (it's using NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService which is a dummy one). Let me know if I'm missing anything pls?  Thanks in advance!

  • Issue#198296: Tableau - SQL Server impersonation issue

Hi All, I've a small issue with SQL server impersonation configuration. To give the details, I'm using live connection to a MS SQL Server Database in one of my workbooks (published with impersonate via server run as account) and the tableau service account has db owner permissions to that database. When I grant a user access to that database, his access to the tableau workbook on the server works fine. However when I remove his access to that database on SQL Server, he is still able to access the workboook. Pls let me know if this is a limitation or am I missing some setting anywhere. Kindly help me.  Thank you!Surendra

  • Issue#62909: Tableau - Data Connections - SQL Server

Hi All, I have an excel source (200MB) loaded as data source with 7 sheets with data extracted using separate queries. In Tableau I have the joins defined where the tables have  separate queries and extracts data into a worksheet. In the other sheets I have the dimensions with the joins defined. Now I have access to SQL server database and want to create and replace the schema. So I have 7 queries and these will extract data from live DB to Tableau and extract data and later schedule on server. Do I need to build separate connections for every query and join them  in Tableau same as like I did in excel ? What is the right approach to take in this scenario. Can I have 7 connections and then blend them inside Tableau ? I have many dashboards built of this data. Please advise.

  • Issue#256851: Tableau - Issue in setting up AD with tableau server

We are in the Process of Setting up Tableau Server 9.2 with Active Directory Authentication. We have created a generic AD for that as well. Our AD team is not allowing us to provide Admin Privileges to that AD ID. They are asking for specific rights to be given to that ID. In Tableau documentation, it is not clearly mention regarding list of permission to be given to the id. Can anybody please specify that what all privileges / Access rights / Permission / Group an AD ID should have to configure that AD ID as the Administrator of  Tableau while initial setup of Tableau ?

  • Issue#259231: Spotify - Unable to contact server (error 30x), x tracks queued (Last.FM scrobbling issue)

This has been an ongoing issue for years with me, that Spotify every once in a blue moon will get errors such as "Unknown Reply From Server" for the first few tracks played, then goes to "Successful". Now, in the more recent days, not only do I still get these errors but I also have new ones saying "Unable to contact server" and an error code such as 301, 307, 308, or whatever. It can go for up to as muxh as 10+ tracks queued before it goes back to normal, but then it will start it again at another random time. https://i.gyazo.com/aca32062c6f50b3f31f856322589d4fd.png

I am working on a client setup where we query the DB directly, due to dynamic security and highly confidential information, no extracts can be used. I have a string field where I basically need the following: LEFT([Field],4) = "ABCD" However, since SQL-Server indexes doesn't really appreciate when you manipulate the search column (that is [Field] in this example, I need to have Tableau send a  SELECT *FROM TableWHERE [Field] like "ABCD%"  query instead. Are there any of the string manipulation options in Tableau that sends Like queries?  I have tried already tried LEFT, STARTSWITH and a few other.

  • Issue#565223: Issue with SQL Server 2000

I have a program that uses SQL Server 2000 Database. That program is installed on a Windows 8 machine and it asks for the server name, database name, username and password. Now when I try to use this program on Windows XP, it seems to work with just using the server name and the database name. When I try on Windows 7, 8, or 10, it won't let me use the program without a username and password. It comes back as "incorrect username and password". So I'm wondering if there's a setting on sql server 2000 that I need to set in order for it not to ask for username and password on Windows 7, 8 or 10. I've tried entering a super admin's credentials but it doesn't work. I've also tried creating a new user specifically to manage that database and then tried entering that and it still won't take it.  Thanks!

Basically all of the files (over 14000) flow into the error table.
