Issue#48: Tableau - Hyperlink on multiple columns using Data base values

  • Hello:

I've a report that has four columns that need to be hyperlinked.

I've created variables for each and used those variables for hyperlink action using Menu option.

Issue is when there is no value in one column it takes the link value from the right column.

Anyone faced issue like this. Please advise.

    Thank You!

Hello, I have data from a csv file which contains lists in one of its columns, ie each row has a column in the format - ["a", "b", "c"] I have split  the column so that I have multiple columns each with an individual value, I am now trying to combine those values to use as filters and to for visualisation. For example my resulting fields are similar to the following: TimeIDListSplit Value1Split Value2Split Value3Split Value400.01Jack["car","bus"]carbus00.02Jim["bus","car","boat","plane"]buscarboatplane00.03John["plane","boat","car"]planeboatcar I could like to be able to get the total of each of the categories, ie-  Car - 3Bus - 2Boat -2Plane - 2 And then plot these against my time field, could anybody advice me on what I'm sure is a very simple issue. Thanks

  • Issue#556: Tableau - Multiple Data Source Filtering Using Different Dimension than Parameter's

Hi all, I’ve got a dashboard that has numerous sheets on it from multiple data sources. I’ve used a parameter to allow me to filter across all the data sources at once. The problem is, the dimension that I’ve used for my parameter is a product code that people can’t use for searching. What they need to use is the product name, but this product name dimension is in only one of the data sources. So is there a way for the user to select a product name in a quick filter on the dashboard and have all the vizzes change, even though it's the product code parameter that's filtering all the sheets?  Thanks!

Hi All, Currently, I have a few quick filters on my dashboard on Tableau Server. • Issue#50419: Tableau - Applying a filter to multiple data sources

Hello, I have come across an issue which I need some help with. The attached sample workbook can be used to illustrate the situation. My original problem revolved around creating a running sum of orders which were undelivered. The goal behind the calculation was to add new orders as they are created and subtract them from the running sum as they are delivered. With the help of a contributor on this forum, I was able to put together a solution; however, I am running into an issue with the filters. To solve the original problem, I created a calendar in Excel and imported it as a data source. Then, I duplicated my data source which included all the orders and information about them, linked the order date and delivery date fields from the two data sources to the imported calendar and put together a running sum calculation using the imported calendar as the primary data source which worked perfectly.  The issue I am running into now is adding filters on top of the running sum calc

  • Issue#59964: Tableau - Not show Null Values in Quick filter for a dimension in secondary data source

Hello, I am using two excels; one is primary data source (Employee-Issues) and other is secondary data source (Employee-Data). I have built a tableau worksheet using Employee-Issues and then created a relationship (data blending) with secondary data source using employee id field. However I here is a dimension called Country in secondary data source and I want to use it as a Quick Filter. The issues is that when I am using it as quick filter "Null" values show up and I am not finding a way to get rid of null values. P.S- tried creating set and then using calculated field. However, after creating set and calculated field I am not able to use that cal field in the filterI have also tried using IsNull in condition but it still shows upI have tried creating this formula:if ISNULL(ATTR([ClusterMapping (ClusterMapping)].[Cluster]))=FALSE thenATTR([ClusterMapping (ClusterMapping)].[Cluster])ENDbut it is throwing me an error: the "==" function can not be applied to table calculations

Hi guys.. =) I don't know if this is possible to make in Tableau. I would be very happy if you could help me or give me some workaround to solve my problem.  On my dashboard I have sheet like this:In database I have Home and Away columns (Match is calculation [Home] + "-" + [Away]) My client would like to have possibility to select Club and to see in this table All broadcasts where that club is home or away club...   If I put Home filter he will see only broadcasts where selected club played at home. Thesame with Away filter.. so this will not work for me.   I tried this solution:I made parameter with all club values, and calculation (If home = param OR away = param) whichI put as filter and choose "true".Problem with that solution is that I always have 34 clubs in it. I would like to have "only relevant values" in that parameter. So I think parameter is not a good solution because it provides only static options.   Is there a way to populat

  • Issue#141503: Tableau - How do I only show data that exists in both values of given dimension

Hi there, This is quite a tricky one to give a title to, but the problem should be fairly simple (it took me less than 1 minute to do the same thing in Excel). I've created a table which is split by search queries, and I have a "Week" dimension which I'm splitting the metrics out by. In this specific table, I want to only show the queries which appear in both of the dimensions. I've attached a screenshot of what I have at the minute, but the outcome I'm expecting is for there to be no instances where there are nulls in either side of the table. I really hope I'm just being stupid and that this is an easy fix, I've been at it for an hour already! ThanksDan

  • Issue#179922: Tableau - Trying to combine multiple columns of flags / filters into one...

So I feel like this should be an easy thing to set up but it's not clicking.I want to be able to combine multiple flags into one where the user can select from a drop down box or radio button.  For example, to select "Global", "Europe" or "US" each have it's own criteria to make it for that region / country (not just a simple nation selection) so they are separate columns and the data types may be different (string for region or 1/0 for true/false) I tried doing this with a parameter and a calculated field but I couldn't get it working.  Not sure if sets would do it either but yeah ultimately just trying to combine multiple columns of filters into one so that the user can select from one list

  • Issue#262561: Tableau - Filter on joined data sources omits dates if no filter values exist (despite no relation t

Some help with the following would be much appreciated. I have tried "show missing values" and the solution on Unable to Show Missing Values (Dates) when date level is switchable using parameter but both approaches do not work for my data sources. I have two data sets, one with daily values ("Time Period" dimension) and one with values for Mondays only ("Week Commencing" dimension). I would like to plot values from both data sets on a week-by-week basis so I have used DATETRUNC to change the daily values to weekly dates. A "End Date Selector" parameter filters the data to show data ending on a specific "week commencing" date. The data is also filtered to dimension values in the daily data set (i.e. "Colour"). Problem: A dimension value (i.e. Colour = Blue) in the daily data set is not present for an entire week (i.e. 29 Feb 2016 - 6 Mar 2016). When the End Date Selector is set to 29 Feb 2016 and the Colour filter to only Blue, then the graph shows the last week for which data

  • Issue#276716: Tableau - Data Blending Left Join Issue

Hi All, We are currently developing a customized usage dashboard for our business users. We are blending data using multiple data sources and both data sources are connecting to PostgreSQL databases. In the second data source we are using custom SQL which basically pulls the users who are in Usage and Admin AD groups. All sites contains corresponding Usage and Admin AD groups accordingly. Our aim is to provide the users logged in with their sites usage data. For example, user X is only part of site A and when he logs in he should be viewing only site A's usage statistics and if user Y is part of site B and C, he should be viewing both sites B and C's usage statistics. For the security piece we are capturing user login information using GetUserName() function. But we have a issue here with the Site Name filter. When a user X logs in, he is able to see only his sites corresponding data getting filtered but the site name filter shows all sites within the environment. we want to

Hello team,I am attaching an view of the issue I'm facing when trying to display the values of different measurements being aligned to the left of each column (but it would apply if i want to align vertically as well). • Issue#401955: Tableau - Data Blending Issue

Hi All, I am working with two data sources and I need to blend some data fields from both data souses to create some dash boards. I did data blending but it does not give me correct results what I expect. I have attached a sample workbook by enclosing similar example which I faced. For your convenience, I have attached two screen shots of results what I expected and observed 1. This kind of figure I am expecting to have. In my two data sets one have 5 ICUs(A, B, C, D, E) and 3 for other(A, B, D) . But this figure shows 3 ICUs(A, B, D) which are in data set 1. But I need to show rest ICUs though those do not have data (C and E) 2. When I blend Data I observed this figure. This figure shows rest 2 ICUs(C and E) But failed to show discharge type correctly as in figure 1 when dragging discharge type into color shell Can anyone please kindly help me to getting this problem solved. I have attached my tableau workbook as well. I can work upto tableau version 9.2.

  • Issue#483883: Tableau - Trouble with multiple columns of dates

Attached is a file similar to the one I am working on. There are 10 types of animals. Along with those animals, there are dates associated with estimated birth dates. I have written a few calculations that say if the date is > 0, put "A", and so on for each column for charting purposes. I am running into a problem with having 8 different dates in 8 different columns. If I put "Type" in the row, "A_Date" into the column and then enter "A_Date" into "label" it works and shows the correct verbiage for the associated months. However, when I want to enter "B_Date" into the same chart it does not work because the A_Date is dominant.  I do not know how to have the "B_Date" show up in the correct associated date. Any ideas? Please let me know if I did not explain well enough.

  • Issue#486079: Tableau - Monthly Updated Dashboard with Data from Multiple Excel Files.

I am looking for guidance to set up data from multiple excel spreadsheets to work well in Tableau. I am creating a high level overview dashboard for a network of 50+ schools. The dashboard will include around 30 different metrics housed in 7 separate excel spreadsheets. All 7 separate excel spreadsheets are normalized, have the same unique identifiers, these files are kept separate because their formats are slightly different and most important they are owned by different people that update them when data is available, some updates are monthly, others 3 times or twice a year. As soon as data owners update the spreadsheet, the dashboard should be updated too.  In my research, I learned about data blending and data joining. Data blending looked like a good option until I couldn't figure out how to control the dashboard with a global filter. Data joining has potential, except every time I experimented with this feature I noticed numbers changing in my dataset, specially in Levels
